Meet Dr. Taber

Douglas J. Taber, BS, DC, DCP, DAAPM, DAASP, FAAIM, BCETS, FABS, BCPM, FAAETS, CET, FABDA, FAACP, FACSP, BCDT, CCSMS, BCIM, DCANT, DCPM, DCEM

Dr. Douglas J. Taber is a 1998 graduate of New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY, where he is a member of the Presidents’ Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree through the State University of NY at Fredonia.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Integrative Medicine, a Fellow of the American Academy of Chiropractic Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Spine Physicians, a Fellow of the American Board of Disability Analysts, and a Fellow of the American Back Society.  In addition, Dr, Taber is Board Certified in Pain Management, Motor Vehicle Accident Trauma, and Disability Trauma through the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and has achieved Diplomate status with the American Academy of Pain Management, the AAIM College of Physicians, and the American Academy of Spine Physicians. He is also a Certified Ergonomics Technician, an Exercise Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Chiropractic Sports Injury Specialist, and Certified Chiropractic Sports Medicine Specialist. Through the American Academy of Integrative Medicine, Dr. Taber holds Diplomate status with the College of Acupuncture & Neuromuscular Therapy, the College of Pain Management, and the College of Eastern Medicine. Dr. Taber is a Post-Graduate Faculty member of New York Chiropractic College and regularly lectures to health care providers and the general public on various health topics. He conducts lectures, presentations and continuing educational seminars to medical and chiropractic organizations, health care providers, hospitals, and clinics.

Dr. Taber’s articles have been featured in such national magazines as Chiropractic Wellness & Fitness, Health & Wellness Magazine, The American Chiropractor, and Foot Levelers’ “Secrets of My Success” series. He has maintained an active pursuit of emerging medical technology as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Chiropractic Products Magazine, and is involved in the review of spinal research as an Editorial Advisory Board Member of The Spine Journal, which is the official publication of the North American Spine Society – a multidisciplinary society of spine practitioners worldwide. Dr. Taber was a co-founder of the New York Spine Society, and was part of the Wellness team at the 2009 United States’ Golf Association’s US Open in Bethpage, NY. 

His first book, “The Back Pain Solution: Unlocking the Spinal Code”, was released in May of 2006 and is available worldwide. In 2009, he released “Spinal Decompression & Stabilization Protocol”, an evidence-based progressive spinal rehabilitation program for health care providers who provide Spinal Decompression to their patients. In addition, Dr. Taber has written “Spinal Stabilization: A Functional Rehab Program”and published “The Spinal Answer Exercise Protocol”, which involves yoga-based spinal exercises, and “Overcoming Failed Back Surgery”, which was released earlier this year. Dr. Taber’s sixth book, “The Neck Pain Solution: A Guided Approach to Healing” is scheduled for release in the early part of 2011 along with a CD of Guided Meditations for those who suffer from chronic neck pain and headaches.

Dr. Taber has been certified in Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) since 2003, with dual certification through both the National Academy of MUA Physicians and the American Academy of MUA Physicians. He was originally certified under the training of Dr. Robert Gordon, the author of Manipulation Under Anesthesia: Concepts in Theory and Application.

Dr. Taber is considered by many to be a pioneer in comprehensive spine care. He has received multiple rewards and distinctions, including the Central NY “40 Under 40” Award, New York Chiropractic College’s BJ Palmer Award for literary contributions to the chiropractic profession. He has been voted as “One of America’s Top Chiropractors” by the Consumers’ Research Council, and in 2011, he was one of only 100 doctors worldwide to receive the 2011 Hippocrates Award from the ABI.
